Bobby's grandson

Uploaded: May 10, 2013

Description

1/80sec exposure, f/5.6, ISO 800, 400mm focal length.

My son rescued a blind juvenile owl from the ground in our backyard 5 years ago. We named him Bobby. We brought it to an animal shelter where they nursed it back to health and massaged its eyeballs to help it regain its sight. After 2 months of care we were able to release it back into the woods around our house. Each year we have owls watching over us in our yard. We know they are always there but we cannot always spot them in the trees. We like to think they are all related to Bobby, the original.

Exif: F Number: 5.6, Exposure Bias Value: 0.67, ExposureTime: 1/80 seconds, Flash: did not fire, compulsory flash mode, ISO: 800, White balance: Auto white balance, FocalLength: 400.00 mm, Model: Canon EOS 7D

A most beautiful story to go with this incredible capture, Howard. He seems very attentive and unafraid. I love it. #1527710

Howard

It is a lovely story, as stated by our colleges.
The shot is just perfectly balanced.
In Mexico it ever so hard to see owls, wonderful creatures

Thank you all for the kind words. They are truly appreciated. David - I completely agree. We are really lucky to have them here in Maryland. Susan - The owls aren't so much afraid, but they are very wary of us walking towards them or staring at them.

The story of Bobby's family continues as we spent a few hours today watching 2 new baby owls learning to climb trees and thinking about flying. I'll post a couple of the baby photos shortly. #10690307

I really like this one, I hear the owl some times at night in the woods behind us but I have never been able to see one. And story is awesome something your son will always remember. #10692325
