Montauk Point Lighthouse

Uploaded: October 28, 2005

Description

This is a late-afternoon shot of the lighthouse on the easternmost point of Long Island, NY. I loved the area, but if you look through the grass, you can see the WW II-era US Army-built U-Boat watchtower to the left - it really ruined the quaint appearance of the lighthouse IMHO. To hide that tower, I decided to shoot through the tall reeds.

Interesting note: the lighhouse was commissioned by George Washington.

Nikon D70 with the Sigma 24-70 @ f8 to soften the reeds, focused on the lighthouse.

This is a really beautiful, Christopher! Love your perspective on this image! The sky goes perfectly well with this image because it sets the mood and blends with the tall reeds and lighthouse! Great work! #2182704
