Description

This was shot with a tripod-mounted Nikon D70 and Sigma 24-70 lens at about 60mm; f8 at 1/250, ISO 200. I adjusted curves, levels, and saturation, as well as selective sharpening. The lighting is with Nikon Speedlights - one in small softbox...the SB-800 ...and a -600 with an orange gel clipped to the chair back for the backdrop, which is a black velvet blanket. It was a lighting experiment with my new flash units, and one that was tough to accomplish with dear Esther, who had ants in her pants and just did NOT want to stay on that chair. Thoughts and suggestions on the lighting technique are welcome and appreciated - I'm really new at portraits of any kind, but excited to be trying it out.

My first upload! Great to be here!

Thanks Brinn and Nicole! Are uploaded photos automatically entered in a contest? I really have to hunker down and figure out how this site works...any tips, let me know:) Nicole, great cat shots you've posted! I'll get around to putting up some of mine, too. #2000262

Thanks Christopher and thanks for commenting on my photo! (I'm fairly new to studio and portrait work so I really appreciate your comments.) I'm looking forward to seeing all of your kitty shots!

You outta check out Jill Flynn's gallery, too. She mostly does animals and she is fantastic!

You can just upload a photo into your gallery but, if you choose a category at that time then that is a contest category which enters the photo. But, you can only enter one photo into the contest per day. #2002079
