Bet those Mallards were worried when they saw this bird swooping in and breathed a sigh of relief to see that seafood was on the menu and not duck! In my neck of the woods they feed mostly on ducks. Great shot! #10574833

Thanks everyone for the kind words. And Jack, you are totally correct, I was set and waiting. I must say it was bitterly cold with the windchill bringing it below zero and I waited 90 minutes for it to make its move, the sun had just dropped below the treeline behind me and the light was fading fast.

Dear Photo Friend: I feel that something has changed at Better Photo but cannot tell you just what has happened. I have been here since 2003 and most every month I have written to all the winners telling them how their work touches me. I have witnessed photographs that bring tears to my eyes and colors that are unbelievable, now I am worried that like all good things that it will not be here the next time I look.
But the feeling of not being able to congratulate all the winners for the hard work, and sharing their talent with all of us makes me so sad.
However it turns out and even if this is the last time I have this privilege, to let you know how exceptional your work has been, please know that I will never forget.
CONGRATULATIONS to all of you for the month of February, 2013, I send my very best to you always, Merna Nobile
