Dome Lantern
Uploaded: January 18, 2013
Looking up into the lantern of the massive dome of the Library of Congress. Allegorical figures abound; in the lantern's smaller dome,
a female figure in blue represents Human Understanding lifting the veil of ignorance from her eyes, while painted into the collar band
are figures representing vital contributions to the advancement of civilization, such as Rome/Administration, Islam/Physics, etc.
