I am not really looking for critique on this one, just sharing...

Bean and I did a shoot of our niece, Gemma a little less than two weeks ago. As usual, Oscar invaded the shoot. I have many unplanned pics of him.

Yesterday, Oscar fell through a hole in the loft of our barn and was apparently killed when he landed. Nate found him there. This is incredibly hard for me and the girls, and we are pet people, and Oscar was a pretty cool and involved cat. We just put our other cat to sleep this past summer (he was 18 1/2) and we expected to have Oscar for many more years.

Just now, I was finishing up editing Gemma's shoot and remembered this pic. It will be Oscar's last part of one of my shoots. Honestly, I am having a hard time still doing the two shoots I have this Saturday, although I know I need to.

I keep putting things into perspective. He is a cat. I know that, yet he will most certainly be missed and my heart is really heavy.

Thanks for listening, just wanted to share :) #1506895

Deb, I am so very sorry!!! He may be a cat but he was yours and part of your family!! Our animals help us through a lot and ask so little in return. Just remember the good times and of course you will have the photo shoots he supervised!!

I really do like this picture, your niece is a cutie and this picture just makes me smile. #10497872

I am so sorry to hear about your beloved Oscar. It is so hard when they are such a big part of your family. It took me two years to get over the loss of my dog.

It sounds like he had a wonderful life with you. This image is beautiful. #10499276

A wonderful image and a good memorial shot of Oscar. Our pets ARE our families. Sampson is getting older and I hope that every time I take his picture that it won't be the last one. He is still in good health but you never know. Elaine, I am sure that it will take me at least that long when he goes.

So sorry to hear about Oscar. I bet you have some beautiful ones of him that we would like to see. #10499657

Deb, before I scrolled down to your explanation I thought that the title refered to Gemma going home after the holidays or the like. A part of me now wishes I hadn't read the truth. I truly am sorry.
I have a dark tabby, Maggie and a calico, BabyCat, and they take in turns spreading themselves up my chest when I am typing. They both like it when I trim my beard short and they can rub their heads against a nice scratchy chin!
Thank you for sharing. We have a little bamboo grove in the corner of our yard and several of our pets over the past fifteen years are buried there. #10500410

Ah shoot... so sorry Deb.... we have not been without at least one cat in the house/Rv for almost 30 years now... each one, no matter how short or long a time they spend with you leaves a mark on your heart. Oscar looks like a cat we had, who virtually simply moved in (permission not asked) We named him simply Straycat..... he was with us for several years... and was an interesting addition to our house.

This shot is a beautiful memory of your friend.
