Salty Plains

Description

The drive to the Badwater Basin in Death Valley took just twenty minutes from Furnace Creek but waking up at four in the morning was not the usual routine except during a photography shoot to wait for sunrise. The trek off the road in pitch-dark visibility was aided with flashlights to help us negotiate our way into the middle of these hexagons without stepping on the friable salty crust formations. It was half past four when we started taking our first photos but an hour and a half after changed the direction of our cameras when the sun was already up and to the south was the mountains turning red as it was starting to get hit by the rising sun and the moon was swiftly making its way down these gloriously lit hills.
