I took this with my Tamron lens before I switched to my Macro and used an Extension tube. The background is a bit much and I was wondering if there is something I can do to blur it more?
I am also putting a couple pictures up of the macro lens and extension tube. #1505799

These are really cool Beth! Love the way the snow froze :) I would try brightening them up some I think... could be my screen, but they look a little on the dark side. Maybe even try a BW with some extra contrast? Just an idea!

My favorite is Snow Crystals - great DoF on that one!

You're a brave girl to go out in the snow to shoot snow crystals, Beth. I'd stay by the fire.

But Deb is right, all these have the same issue when auto exposure is used. The whites register as 18% grey. Open them all in raw and increase the exposure by about 1/2 stop and then tweak your highlights etc.

As far as blurring the background more, I don't think that is necessary, and by simply increasing the exposure value, you will also lower the contrast on the background, making them seem softer. #10485780

Yup, increasing the exposure should do the trick. Very cool! #10485878

Yup, I agree that increasing the exposure is all you need. Snow Crystals is my favorite! #10486090

Beth -- I agree with what the others have said. Lightening these up will take care of lowering the contrast but I think I like Snow Magic the best but I don't know why. I am impressed that you were out in the snow getting cold! #10487028

Thanks, I tweaked them all a bit, increased exposure, highlights and contrast. I usually try to increase my EV by 1/2 stop, don't know why I didn't. I had some problems initially with my lens fogging up. I had changed lens and then I guess didn't give it enough time to acclimate, but it cleared up. I don't mind being out as long as I am dressed to stay warm!! Rocky was moved to the rehab floor today and continues to do great. I did my first solo snow plowing with the 4 wheeler tonight and lived to tell the tale. #10488328

I wish they had those mechanical rigs when I was a kid. It was shovel time for me. :o) #10488516

Like them much better brighter! I always have great outdoor shot ideas in my head, but I don't often venture out - I like to be warm :)

Glad to hear Rocky is doing well! #10490091

Thanks everyone! The snow continued today, I think we got at least a foot in this one. I hope to get out early and find some more shots.
Rocky is still doing great. I get to take the dogs to visit him tomorrow. He will love that! #10490199
