You really had me confused with this title Kristin, untill I remembered you are from Canada.

Very nice shot. I love the rippling water. Would suggest that you open the shadows a bit on the beaver, though, 'cause he gets a bit lost. #1487671

lightened up the beaver... #10332491

Very good. I like. :o) #10332521

I agree with Dales assesment and your fix for it looks great. The colorful reflections in the water are very pretty. I think you could also do a pano version of this and not lose the impact of the reflections in the water and infact the balance between that and this critter would work out nicely. :~) #10332991

(...blushing as I ask this...) what is a pano version? #10333334

Jeff E Jensen September 22, 2012

Yup, the revision worked. Pano version would be retaining the width, while cropping some off the top. #10333463

I was confused too, eh! I thought this was an otter. #10333521

I love the colors reflecting in the water and your fix is great!! #10333548

Kristin Duff September 22, 2012

fix#2...but when I do this I can see that I wasn't as focused as I thought I was! #10333571

Aimee C. Eisaman September 23, 2012

yep that is exactly what I was thinking of and pano is short for panoramic and in no particular terms means a long skinny horizontal image. I don't see that the focus was missed, but if you want you could do a selective high pass just on the beaver. :~) #10334351

just on my way out the door to fly overseas for the next 6 days. Will try this when I get back Aimee! #10334375

I like the lighter beaver in the pano version, but how can that beaver compete with that beautiful water? Even with the pano, the water is the subject. I would suggest also playing with a crop that would show just the water - a kind of abstract shot. #10334383

I did a series of those shots, all water reflections and some of them were very cool. Will try find them upon my return. Have a good week everyone! #10334388

Overseas? Where? Have fun!!

I love the color of the water. You're edits helped to bring out the bever as the subject. But the water is very cool and I would like to see some of the abstract shots you got. :) #10334637

The colors of the reflections in the water are spectacular. The Beaver is OK but the water is the star here.

I have never run across a beaver to photograph, but we have muskrats I often shoot. I have never been able to get a very satisfactory image of one though. It may be that the angel of the shot and the fact so much is hidden under the water just does not make for a good photo. #10341571
