Sure you weren't at the Arboretum in DC with us, Kristen? There were great sunflowers in the Children's Garden, along with all the butterflies.

Nicely done. #1486982

My only suggestion would be to fill in the bits of black on the far left and the bottom left corner. Otherwise, this is fantastic! #10327573

The colors are great and I like the fine details like the hairs you can see on this plant. Very sharp! #10328169

great detail Kristen, it doesn't matter what part of the sunflower that is shown everyone always like to see them. your sharpen is very nice #10328425

@Jeff, when is Dale back, as I don't know how to do that except by cropping! #10328479

Teresa H. Hunt September 18, 2012

This is fantastic Kristin!!

Can you clone the yellow petals over the black area? If not . . . I believe Dale is flying home tomorrow :) #10328534

Beth Spencer September 18, 2012

You have some awesome detail in this one. I think you may be able to clone those areas. #10328539

Jeff E Jensen September 19, 2012

Yeah, should be pretty easy to clone in those areas. You could even do it on a duplicate layer, placed below this one so that you retained the sharp edges of the petals. #10328929

I'm not sure you need to clone at all but if you decide to clone, I'm sure it will be even better if it works out for you. Such a lovely, clear shot of a part of the sunflower we don't see as often. Nice work, Kristen. #10329613

Jeff E Jensen September 19, 2012

Hey Kristen, I hope you don't mind, I did a screen grab and did a quick and dirty clone job. #10329650

Kristin Duff September 19, 2012

thank you Jeff...it would have been days before I got around to doing this and I certainly appreciate the time you took. I like the adjustment as it keeps one's eye focused on the detail. I like the first one (not just coz it's my photo) because the black adds another dimension of depth...hence the name, summer's end. So now that we've worked this one out it's time to go take some more photos! #10329674

Kristin Duff September 19, 2012

p.s. how do you guys do that? Grab another photo and work on it? #10329680

Jeff E Jensen September 19, 2012

Yeah, I'm not sure I prefer it without the black areas.

On a PC, you simply hit Ctrl and PrtScn (Alt and PrtScn if you are using dual monitors). Then, open a blank image in PSE and hit Ctrl and V to paste the image. Then you just crop out the stuff you don't need. Of course, you are only getting a low resolution image to work on so the results aren't going to be nearly as good as with the full size file. #10329723

The black bits sure don't bother me Kristen, this is truly beautiful. #10330403

I think it's perfect! What gorgeous colours! I agree, truly beautiful! #10330954
