I used a tele. to zoom through a cyclone fence with polarizing filter. Santa Catalina Island on the horizon.

Were there a couple of palm trees you could have used as frames on the left and right, or walk up close to that tree and use the overhanging limbs to block some of the light blue sky? How about a rotating polarizing filter to darken the sky and make more contrast with the white clouds and the island. I know it is hard to shoot islands from afar, without a title many people don't know there is an island in the picture. I'll attach a photo of Santa Catalina Island as an example. Again, if you don't know there is an island in the picture, you won't see it, so put something else in there for interest.
