Okay, Phellos -- my first attempts at twilight/nighttime photography. It was fun, but it was cold that evening. I have lots of bad ones, some mediocre ones and a few good ones. As the sky got darker and more color appeared in the fountain, the images got worse. These were done during the better part of the evening. #1467707

Wow! These are awesome Debbie...my personal fav is the 2nd one. I like the foreground fountains! #10171645

Trippin the Light Fantastic is the best in my opinion. I like the other two but the middle picture captures the light and the city scape and the fountain the best. Good job on your first attempts at twilight photography! Look forward to seeing more twilight images. =)

These are all wonderful, Debbie!
I'm loving your first image. I like how the lighting of the fountain gives it a lava fire glow. I've only done a few night shots and can't even begin to offer editing suggestions. Just out of my comfort zone. Your last post has a soft hdr feel that is delightful. Congrats on your success. #10172051

I agree. These are all lovely Debbie. "Trippen'" is my favorite for the same reasons Melissa mentioned. All these would fare well using the editing techniques you've experimented with lately but are exellent in their own right. #10172255

Oh man, I love Chicago! I'm going to be there in a couple of weeks, but I won't be making it downtown this time :o(

I agree that Trippin is my favorite as well. #10172279

Wonderful Debbie! I love the glow of the fountain against the city lights. And I think you've captured the water in such a way to see the movement. :)

I'm going to vote for Trippen as well. #10172358

I don't know how you could improve these much with practice as they look good to me. Trippin is also my choice. #10172410

Yes that second one is my favorite too....great to have some midground interest....adds depth. It almost looks like the fountain is on fire...very neat. I think you could do even more post processing on the second one and give a bit more pop...maybe with curves. :~) Glad you braved the cold! #10172728

Aimee -- I will definitely be trying some of my plug-ins and some tone-mapping when I get home.

I also wish I had done some true HDR images with the three exposures. Will do that next time I go to Chicago.

Teresa-- Managing the city nights, the different amount of light in the sky during the time span I shot, plus the moving color lights were kind of unpredictable . Some images were in focus and others were not. Yet they were all done on the tripod. It was pretty windy, which might have been part of the problem or if it had more to do with differences in aperture.

Mike -- I get some cool images with the way you taught me to do stars! Thanks again for teaching us how to do them at Hoover Dam. #10172921

Nice job Deb..I'm in the 'Trippin camp as well, although I really like the tones in the fountain in the last post. #10173368

It 's been over a month and since I am getting two of these images rady to be a couple of my August submits I noticed that I did not thank you , Melissa, for stopping by to help me make up my mind that Tripping is rhe one I like best. My life has slow down considerably do to bteaking my foot in four places , good news about that is I have a lot of time to devote to BP things. Sorry I didn't catch you at the end of June! #10249086
