Description

This is an HDR image of the Tweetsie Railroad Engine #12, a national historic landmark, now located at the Tweetsie Railroad Amusement Park near Boone, NC. This is an authentic steam locomotive previously used on a line between Johnston City, Tennessee and Western North Carolina as part of the East Tennessee and Western North Carolina Railroad (ET&WNC). Engine No. 12, built by Baldwin Locomotive Works of Philadelphia, PA, at a cost of $14,000, was one of 13 narrow-gauge engines built for the RT&WNC.  An interesting fact: due to superstitions, there was no No. 13 engine ever built!
