Ok I'm a bit happier

Uploaded: October 08, 2005

Description

It's a pain in the rear
to have to do this to all of my photos but
this Neat Image is really working!

Well, if it makes you feel
any better, my camera still kicks ...

... mmm ... tell me again
why do I deserve this sympathy
from my future son-in-law?

Wow ... what a teeny tiny thumbnail... well at least the real pic looks HUGELY better!

It's amazing what Neat Image, a Photoshop paintbrush and cloaning tool and 1.5 bottles of beer consumed while watching Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy ... will do for one's spirits ... and by the way i'd recommend 3 beers to make that movie go down better.

Really great laughter with family helps too ... but no really ...

I'm soooooo pleased with the results ... later today when i'm not being harrassed ... i'll post a bit out of the original ... then you'll know why it took two programs, one movie, 1.5 beers, and lots of laughter to keep me from flinging my camera against the wall.

Ok take a swing at the composition ... it's time to return all those "favors" i've given out :-D

ok wellll they're starting movie 2 ... on this pc ... oops I hit the exit button on the movie ... i'd better hurry ...

ttyl!
have fun

okay ... this is an example of the grainess in the image ... it's actually only 70% of the original's size but you'll clearly get the idea. #1934006

okay ... this is an example of the grainess in the image and the difference that Neat Image made ... it's actually only 70% of the original's size but you'll clearly get the idea.

Hint: the Original is the top section ;)

I didn't worry that the Neat Image result was a softer focus because I knew i'd be downsizing it ... and usually that throws out enough extra pixels to clear it up ... otherwise i'd try some unsharp settings on it. #1934024

Alright ... Hint #2 ... don't use the back botton ... when adding discussions

Ok now i'm sticking in a side by side comparision of a larger area of the photo at 30% of it's original size

why? ... I hope you will see a difference in between the original on the far left and the filtered result in the center ... personally I see a difference in the depth of color and a depth of field ... and that's the thing that makes me happiest.

the section on the far right is a sampling out of the original that shows the way this camera thinks every situation that has contrast is a HIGH contrast situation ... as you can see this is a densly shaded area ... I don't know what the camera's issue is ... i'm looking for ways to compensate ... but my expirements in compensation are still safely stashed in my camera.

I just used various brush textures at different opacities (30 to 40%) to hand color the missing leaves ... using a light weight opacity meant I didn't have to stay inside the lines ... if I over brushed an existing leaf, 9 times out of 10 it didn't make a difference. then I did a very very slight gaussian blur on the leaf area to blend the lines jusssst a touch more.

ya'll have fun,
