The Ordeal Ends

Uploaded: June 10, 2003

Description

After spending several hours in a swimming pool from which the babies could not escape on their own, a resident at my condo complex put a large sheet of plywood at the edge of the pool, then got in and herded them to it. I'm certain Mom was thoroughly happy to have the flock on dry ground again. This little family hasn't been seen in the pool again...

Great, great, great, also the background kind of rose that gives some colour into this picture. Su, Portugal #39296

LOL Well Carolyn, maybe you could start signing your comments "Carolyn and Kath" and then I wouldn't have so much typing to do! LOL You are such fun... #112551

Thanks very much Cathy & "Carolyn and Kath". Uh, if you don't mind me interrupting your conversation, here's a few of the shots I got during the crisis. The moment of their salvation was disappointing in the sense that the dumb lens focused on the rescuer, but I only had one shot at it. Once they hit that board, they skee-daddled! Thanks again to everyone - I appreciate all the wonderful comments! - Doug #112597

wow, Howard! Love the little chicks' story and all the rest of the pics that illustrate it! Glad someone helped them out! #113570

Thanks Evy, Cathy, Lem & Claudia!! Your comments are sincerely appreciated. Just for the record, I did make several attempts to get them out, but Mommy duck wasn't interested. I even got the pool skimmer and got one baby out (despite Mom flying out of the pool right at my head!), but it promptly jumped right back in! I was concerned, but they never appeared to be so tired that they couldn't stay afloat. It truly was a nice feeling to see them finally rescued. Thanks again to each of you who have written!! - Doug #114171
