The hill on the horison is a huge "mine dump", the fine sand that remains after gold ore has been crushed and the gold extracted. This dump was once the biggest sand dump in the world, now it is being reduced as sand is continuously taken away for commercial purposes.

I think the fact that there are some lights in the dark area helps to make this fairly ordinary sunset a little more interesting.
