WOW Heather this is one beautiful composition, and so very well captured. Just what I needed as I sit here drinking my coffee. #109132

Most Beautiful!!Viveca. Was something done to the water? #109182

Murry Grigsby May 26, 2019

Well composed and photographed, Heather. All that green and lovely curved bridge refection is very calming. I almost wish for a girl on the bridge with a bright red umbrella to wake me up :0) #109227

Thank you everyone.

I wish there had been someone on the bridge also Murry. But this was taken on Monday and I had the gardens to myself on this rainy cloudy day.

Viveca, the only thing I did to the water was to clean up a bunch of white stuff that was floating on the water. I used the clone tool and blending effects brush. There is a small waterfall that you cannot see that churns the water into foam. Bits of the foam then float towards the bridge. I thought they were distracting so I took them out. #109401

Beautiful Picture Heather! Easy enough to add a person on the bride and make them reflect in the water :) shhhhhhhh.

LOL Lori! I thought of that already. And I have a nice swan that would look good in the water also...hehehe. #109530

Lovely scenic, Heather. At the risk of making a suggestion to a higher power, I think this would be even stronger cropped at the top - so that the bridge is right at the top of the frame. The trees just don't do much for me -- something about the hard light -- but I love, love, love the bridge and reflection! Excellent colors. #141400

Heather K. McFarland July 13, 2003

Thanks for the suggestion Piper and the comments. However, I don't think your crop would work at all. For one it would make the image very unbalanced in my opinion. And I guess I just don't see the "hard light" in the trees that you see. There was no direct sunlight at all that day. Very overcast. I don't see one glare, shadow or hot spot anywhere. Just curious, but what element made you think "hard light"?

Are you sure your gamma on your monitor isn't set too high? This image has won on several sites and I haven't gotten any comments about "hard light" prior to this. I also looked at it on my husbands monitor which displays images a bit brighter than mine does and I still don't see it. #141417

Piper Lehman July 13, 2003

Didn't mean to offend. Maybe "hard" isn't the right word. "Flat" might be a better one. It's a lovely shot and definitely award material. I'm sure you're right about the balance of the composition being off if you cropped, as well. This is a different style of shot for you. Maybe this is what threw me. #141460
