A softer side

Uploaded: September 27, 2005

Description

This stunning rose was found growing all alone along side a road in Cleburne Texas. I used photo editing software to detach the stem of the rose only. This shot was taken in the afternoon using natural daylight. I used photo editing software to create the softer glow and color. a Minolta 7000 Maxxum SLR film camera and a 70-210 macro zoom lens. A 125 shutter speed and 5.6f/stop was used.

You creation breathes rustic beauty. Perfection not only by your exposures and composition but also editing. Do you know Trent Reznor? #318555

Thank you so much. No I don't think I know Trent Renzor. Why do you ask?

I asked if you knew him because this rose seems to portray the darker side of life, death. A lot of Reznor's videography is about how beautiful death and destruction can be. Sometimes when roses symbolize death it portrays to the audience that all living things have that one thing in common. There are lot of people that can capture things that are very beatiful but there aren't so many that can beautify death with their art, which I think has been done with the creation of this photograph. And what a great title you gave to the photo. Another side to life perhaps? If I'm misinterpreting your photo let me know. I sometimes tend to make mountains out of molehills. But I really do enjoy the dark, yet subtle beauty of this photo. #1903081

That’s a very interesting way of looking at it I suppose. Though I must say I don't believe that’s what I was going for. After reading your comment I looked up "Trent Reznor". Were you referring to "NINS" Trent Reznor? If so, I am familiar with the band just unfamiliar with their names. When displaying any type of art it is to give the world a chance to analyze their feelings about it and what reflects from them. Or a chance to say " oh thats pretty". When I shot this photo I had no feelings about it until I edited it the way I felt it spoke out to me and reflected a "softer side" and not so "loud" version of perhaps myself. However, if "a beautiful death" is how you may see it then that is how it reflects to you. Take it as you see it.
