Beautiful photo Sue. I really love the angle and the expression on her face. :)Her eyes look a little soft. Also her skin looks odd to me, I can't quite figure it out . . . kinda blotchy. But it might just be the blown out areas.
It's been a while since I worked with people, so you might want to wait and see what the others say. :)
Congrats on the EP! #1440036

I wouldn't be one to give advice on people photos but I think Teresa is on to something with sharpening her eyes a bit more and some skin softening. We've seen her before and she is a very interesting looking, young woman. Yes, congrats on the EP! #9954699Dale Hardin January 30, 2012
Very well composed photo Sue. I like the soft look but think it can be improved a bit with some subtle changes.Give this a try. Open in the raw editor and use the recovery slider at about 50. Then move the clarity slider to the left at a setting of about -10 to -15. This will add a soft glow to the outer areas of the image. Then open in Photoshop or Elements for the rest.
Add a bit of highpass filtering set at around 1.0, just to eyes, brows, mouth, and ear rings. Finally, use a very soft brush set to lighten mode at about 40% opacity to clone out the hair on the left side of her forehead. (her right side)
These changes will accent the eyes, eliminate some of the "blotchy" look that Teresa refered to, and give some defition to the chin while at the same time softening the overall look.
Note: These recomendations are based on the posted image. Working on the orignal file, your adjustment numbers may be different. Trust your eye. #9955637

lovely image. not great on people either. I c whats been mentioned n agree. dale's edits usually work. the multiple catch lights have my eyes bouncing around. #9956235Jeff E Jensen January 30, 2012
Yup, I'll be interested to see Dale's suggestions as well. #9956256Aimee C. Eisaman January 31, 2012
I really like the cool light tone in this and how her hair seems to be blowing back. Will be interested to see Dales suggestions. I would personally go way overexposed with an image like this, but that's just my style. Sharpening the eyes should really give them a pop. :~) #9957470Beth Spencer January 31, 2012
Congratulations on the EP! I don't have any suggestions will just wait and see what you do! #9958175Michael Kelly January 31, 2012
I am also not the best person to make comments on people pictures. I am afraid the times have passed me by. To me the shot looks too harsh because of the lighting. That's me though, so I would not go by my opinion. I do think Dale suggestion will help that somewhat. #9958240Ellen H. Robertson January 31, 2012
First congrats. Both suggestions would be interesting to see. #9958262Peter W. Marks February 04, 2012
Yeh, what Dale said. The mystery for me is that I have no idea why a gap between the teeth has a certain appeal to this old dog. :0) #9964996Sue C. Cole February 04, 2012
I reworked this image using Dale's suggestions in the first image and in the second image using Aimee's suggestion of overexposure. I tend to love over exposed images as well so thought I would play a little more with it. What do you think? Thank you all for your ideas and suggestions. #9965544Dale Hardin February 04, 2012
Both work for me. If you are after the high key look then the over exposed one is the way to go. What helped both the most was the removal of the hair on the forehead. #9965695Sue C. Cole February 04, 2012
Thank you Dale, I would have to agree! #9965697Aimee C. Eisaman February 05, 2012
Oooo yeah I love the overexposed one! :~) #9966640Peter W. Marks February 05, 2012
And you think we couldn't have guessed that Aimee? lol #9966749Rita K. Connell February 05, 2012
i am with aimee I really like your edit and the overexposed one .... great job! #9967182Ellen H. Robertson February 06, 2012
Yes the overexposed! #9967791Teresa H. Hunt February 06, 2012
The overexposed one is beautiful.Did you do any skin softening? If so it looks a little overdone to me. If not . . . ignore me. :)
I like Dale's suggestion too, however I'd warm it up a tad. #9969035
