White-lined Sphinx Hummingbird Moth
Uploaded: October 22, 2011
These stout-bodied moths have long , narrow forewings and shorter hindwings, with wingspans ranging from 2-8 inches. Their proboscis (feeding tube) exceeds up to 10 inches in some species. Unlike most moths, they will fly during day light, but evening is the most productive time to watch for them. Captured this one at dusk.
