Because I shot on a tripod, the foreground and background did not change. I set my Canon 50D to High Speed multiple (shots) and AI Servo. Once focused on the rim of the bird "bath" and at the appropriate moment when the white balance and correct exposure was set, I simply hit the shutter for about 5 or 6 frames, then hit it again. The result was at least 6 frames that could be used together in individual layers.

I corrected exposure on each image and prepared them to be put on each layer.
It happened that the first several worked well together. Each layer consisted on one image. From there on it was a matter of painting one image over another using either a mask. And setting the palette color to the opposite --black for the white mask, or white for the black mask, I painted the image over the previous layer, making certain I did not cover the other bird. I was delighted that these three images did not cover each other, whereas some of the others did.

With Lewis' class, I bought his DVD and listened to it repeatedly until I was clear on how this might work. I'm not certain he taught the technique for my plan, but it worked for me. There is more, but you'll need to take the class to discover what I did, as I've forgotten for now.

At the time, I took the class, I was injured from a bad fall and was unable to physically complete and barely started the class. But I stayed with it just to get the lessons and to buy the DVDs. Eventually, I will learn the entire set of lessons.

Thanks for commenting and your compliments.
