Hi Alex,

Nice composition and I really like the lighting and pink tones in the sky.

Jana,
Now that I started using photoshop it really opened totally different ways of improving pictures. This photo was taken very early in the morning and the sky was boring.. so I added a layer with a some clouds ( from my collection) with identical light.

Sweet....., I think That I am going backwards technilogically. I picked up my husbands old film camera (Canon ae1) and kind of liked it. I actually ordered another film camera yesterday (Canon elan 7e) so I can use some of my lenses.

Thanks Chung Wah,
Maybe I will use this photo as an example for our monthly challenge. Because it really dramatically changed by adding these clouds. By the way there are many good videos on youtube with Photoshop tutorials.

As promised I would take the lead this time to show you how I got to the final result of this image. I started with importing the RAW file into Lightroom 3 ( as I always do) and converted it into a TIF file, with minor changes to the original file ( increased clarity and vibrance, sharpened a little bit, cropped and straighten the photo) This TIF file ( See attached image Thunder coming step 1) I imported into photoshop CS5. As you can see the color of the church is pretty much as it is in the final photo. But the blue early morning sky doesn't help in this case.So Imported photo clouds step 2 too. Selected the blue sky, copied the clouds via paste special , past into and you get image thunder coming step 3. If you want to move the clouds around you go into the layer with the clouds , selcet them with ctrl T ( windows)and then the move tool and you adapt as you want. On top of the clouds layer I added two layers , one for the color balance and one for the exposure in order to get a better blend of the two images. And that gives the final step 4 image. #9642957

Thanks for sharing Alex. CS5 is an amazing tool isn't? What a difference colors and clouds made to an image!
I have yet to get a hang of the use of layers!

Hello Chung Wah,
I'm just starting to discover their power, but I'm convinced it is one of the more powerful tools in ( layers & masks)CS5. Finally it seems I will get the program for 199 Euros...

Great example Alex! I guess that I will check out those tutorials on blending. Your sky looks so natural that I never would have guessed that it was not the original sky.

You did a great job changing the sky and colours, photoshop certainly can make a difference to an image!

Thank you all,
Indeed I accepted that there is a difference in taking a perfect picture and making an excellent image. It was not different from the days when the darkroom defined everything.
