Ornate Ceiling - Owl's Eyes

Uploaded: July 05, 2011

Description

Taken in the Blue Mosque, Istanbul, Turkey. Positioned my camera on the floor and used a wide angle EF-S 10-22mm lens wide open. 3.2 secs at f/8.0. PS curves applied to bring out the beautiful design-work and detail. Thanks to Christopher J. Budny for his observation about the "owls eyes".

This is brilliant, Martin, absolutely gorgeous. (Love that 10-22!) Having been privy to your earlier draft, this is fantastic editing, quite an unexpected elevation from your already-quite-nice "draft".
I like how the column forms a nose or beak of sorts, if you think of the 2 white half-domes as say, a rather menacing owls' eyes looking down on you. #9508343
