Description

Our area has been plagued by drought to the point that there won't be any fireworks displays this year. We have been blessed by some beautiful lightning. I hope everyone enjoys this image in lieu of fireworks--Happy Independence Day!

I live in Texas, and most of the state is under extreme or worse drought conditions. I'm not sure how my town managed to pull off the fireworks display last week. Anyhow - wonderful shot! I would love to be able to catch an image of lightening - and you've done a great job. Love the windmill in the front! #1390447

Thanks Pat! We are about 140 miles North of Amarillo so I feel your pain. It took me lots of trys to catch this lightning shot. I have a whole file of them that I've spent hours attaining. This particular one, I captured about a week ago when the storm passed us by. I just set my camera on "bulb" and fire a lot of shots. As with this one, sometimes I get lucky with my timing. The windmill is from another shot that I did when the sun was too high and I wasn't happy with the lighting, so I selected the sky with magic wand, inverted and darkened the foreground with levels, inverted back to the sky and pasted my lightning shot into it. I had to use the transform tools under edit to play with it a bit to get what I wanted. Thanks for your kind compliment!! Have a great holiday! #9506844
