Dare to Dream
Uploaded: June 22, 2011
I wanted to try something different for this senior shoot. Usually I play with my subjects but now I played with fire... :o) She's a music student and I custom made a background with music sheets for her then literally set it on fire. No one was harmed during the session... LOL...

Very creative background, Susana. Is there some symbolism to having the background on fire? Was she dreaming, as my husband often does, that the house burned down and took all my stuff with it? He's forever on me to pair down my activists papers. But, once they are gone, there gone. Perhaps, once the scores are gone, there gone, also, and the mind is free to explore once again.Congratulations on the finality of your creativity and its recognition with a finalist. #9562170

First an apology for my tardy response to your many wonderful comments!!!! :o( THANK YOU. To address your questions:Nikki, the background was actually burning behind her!! She was about 6 feet removed from the flames and was feeling the heat! But I had people standing on the sides with water and fire extinguishers (my husband is a firefighter).
Susan, not really symbolism, I just wanted to do something cool for a senior session and had seen a music video with a similar idea (Youtube = Vitas Pocelui). My favorite artist!!! I always LOVED that music video and thought I'd give it a "shot".
JO ANN, unfortunately I didn't get a separate shot of the background on fire. This was the first time I tried something with fire and I didnt realize how FAST the fire burns. After all the work of custom making the background I had only a minute or two to snap a few shots until we had to put the fire out. Next time... Live and learn :o)
Chris, thanks for the well wishes!!
And everyone, thanks again for your support!! #9669247
