St. John's Lectern

Uploaded: June 09, 2011

Description

I had a chance to visit the Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine in New York City, over Memorial Day. It is considered the largest cathedral
in America, even in its unfinished state, and many consider it the largest cathedral in the world (as St. Peter's in Rome is technically a basilica church.)
Shown here at the crossing, a grand bronze lectern in the traditional form of an eagle (representing St. John) with the choir and apse receding beyond.

I don't think you give yourself enough credit, Dayna!
This is just a 3-image HDR, shot on a tripod, with a little bit of dodging & burning after; maybe a Topaz Photo Pop filter---I can't remember now.
I'm glad you like it as much as I do; thank you very much! #9460376

Spectacular composition, Chris! You really are cathedral King! This is just so exquisite: the details and clarity, the lighting, the subtle tones and colors...I could go on and on. Agree with Dayna and Katrina - I predict another winner! #9461210
