Great shot- I love the colors of the floor and the way they contrast with all of the dark elements. It makes for a very intense mood. #2060140

I really enjoy the lighting out on the floor but find the rest of the picture to be too dark. I can't really tell what's going on although I would guess this has something to do with wrestling? It IS a great composition though, especially with the lines of the ring leading to the subject.

It is a boxing ring...and it was quite dark. Nothing is really going on at that moment. Empty seats, no contenders, just a kid dreaming about being a champ.

Thanks

I understand the idea of the photo, and maybe it is my monitor, but I cannot make out the boy enough to know it is a boy, except for you telling us. I think the story is a great one, but I feel the boy needs to be recognizeable as person, or I need to up the brightness on my monitor if others can see a hint of him that I cannot. If he is dreaming of being a champion, then he is the subject, and I can't see him. #2767479

The picture is dark indeed. The reason you can't see him is because it is just a bad picture.

thanks

Great idea, very emotional but lost in the execution. Too dark, as has been pointed out. Maybe dodging in the bot in PS or whatever you have. If you can pull him out it would be much better. A flash would have helped. #2820406

The idea maybe good but the execution does not attract to me, I can recognize nothing, it is to dark and the quality of the picture ? -> see the pixeled legs of the kid . I don't know why but I can't loose the feeling you're testing our judgement ???
No offense :O)

I agree. It is a dark picture taken at a dark place.

If I had exposed for the kid's back the image might end up severely burned at the highlights. So I choose for a dark image since that was what I had in front of me.

This is a frame from a small series about boxing. Most of those images are dark actually. And that is because of two factors. First the arena is lit only by the light hanging above the ring. And second: poor execution.

But then again: I agree about being a dark picture. A fill flash? yep...good point.

I noticed the pixels on the leg as Sylvia just pointed out. I sure lost something while downsizing the image.

Testing your judgement?

Sorry but I don't know what you mean.

Thanks for your comments.
