Josh ~ Nice picture. Love all the different shades of green as well as how you captured the train in a slight curve. Good job. =) #9431114Sandi L. Olson May 28, 2011
Josh, I like this picture, I wonder if you had taken it with a larger aperature it would have blurred some of the background. I think the train is cool and the way the train and tracks kind of bend, that is really cool too. However, the electrical lines are a distraction. So if you cropped it upso that you even had to cut part of the train off it would look good too. If you like all of the detail then keep it that way. it just depends on what you are trying to convey here. You're doing great and I enjoy seeing your pictures of different ideas and different angles. Thank youSandi L. Olson May 28, 2011
I just had one more idea, if you don't mind reading it . . . I wonder if you could shoot this train again but at sunset because then all the colors would go nuts and be so beautiful (like they are now) but with a bigger band. Turn your aperature down so you don't pick up so much of the usrrounds and make sure you take a tripod because you will probably need it. You now in the evening sometimes the sky has clouds that look real ominous too. Not sure if you want to do this but it might be worth a try. One more thing, have you tried the AV mode on your camera, so you can set your aperature like at a 4.8 and it will select your shutter speed, just remeber to dhcek your dial when you do a partial focus check, just in case the back light screws your exposure up.Sandi #9433062

Sandi,I actually operate my camera in manual mode. If I'm on the fly then I might use AV. Anyway, I would agree the a blurred background would make it more interesting but I don't have the luxury of stopping down my lens that much at 135mm with the stock lens. (Only 5.6) Also, blurring the background would also run the risk of blurring the train. I could set it on AF but would render me only one shot at focus. So anyway, I tried to make a cool shot with the tools I had available. Maybe I will try some things in photoshop. #9433108
