Happy Birthday I. M. Pei
Uploaded: April 26, 2011
Today is Mr. Pei's birthday. He is the architech for the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland Ohio. Here I lined up for some extra triangles to compliment his effort. The triangle of grass wanted to be lined up with the base of his triangular facade but getting that low wouldn't work so I was happy to see the triangles of shadow that formed an upside down pyramid.

I like it better it black and white but it didn't seem festive enough for a birthday wish. #1372418Tammy M. Anderson April 26, 2011
Both images are outstanding, Marty. Great light and perspective. #9370955Ron McEwan April 26, 2011
Something I don't see much of from you my friend. You sure nailed in every way. Both photos will stand alone on their own merit Marty. Well done. #9370981Ellen Hodges April 26, 2011

I like both versions - it's such a magnificent building! Fantastic capture, and Happy Birthday, Mr. Pei! #9372586Jack Ryan April 27, 2011
Outstanding POV and creative composition...you got the triangles in all the right places. Excellent clarity as well...a real beauty. (At least the sun was shining when you were there...the least I could do for you and Barb.) #9372855Marty Straub April 27, 2011
You're right, Jack. This was taken on the day we left you guys, and this is still the weather you ordered. I only wish you had more connections with the forces on Lake Erie. #9373137Kitty R. Rodehorst-Hanna April 29, 2011
Fabulous image, Marty! :-) k #9380381Mitch Spence May 01, 2011
Marty, I wandered around that building some when I was there, but I was not happy with any of my exterior shots. I am very happy with yours, however. I like them both, but I am particularly taken with the black and white. #9382923Marty Straub May 03, 2011
Thank you all very much. #9387259Julianne Bradford May 03, 2011

Outstanding capture Marty - Looks great in B&W too!! #9388699Val Feldman May 05, 2011
I do believe Architect Pei would be very happy to see your use of triangles (or pyramids) in your captures and dedication to his special day, Marty! :) Both captures are wonderful but like Mitch and yourself, I prefer the b/w, too where the triangular effect is much stronger. It's a marvelously designed building - another on my list of must-sees...which is getting longer by the day! :) #9390241JO ANN CLEVELAND May 06, 2011

Hello Marty. I hope he enjoys his birthday and has many more. He certainly is a gifted man. I just love this design and look. He did his part and then you did yours with this beautiful presentation of his work. Love the lighting, the colors, and the fantastic details. Awesome work my friend. Have yourself a great day. #9396819Sign up for an interactive online photography course to get critiques on your photos.
