Dan - Photography is, of course, about stunning images, but so much of it crosses over from art to emotion and this one has it! This is the kind of shot I want to come back with at the end of the day. You've captured the essence and emotion of everyday life, while at the same time sucessfully moving past another "good or cute" zoo picture.

Thanks Mike. My objective when making zoo shots is to as much as possible, remove the "zoo" look. As much as possible. It's not always so since the background and supporting scenery may be difficult or impossible to remove. Thus this picture where the wall behind the subject is a dead giveaway. That is ok though since desiring to make an image appear as though it might have been shot in the wild is not the sole goal. Yes, when I saw these primates in their colony, it was easy to see the emotional possibilities. Thus the entire collection of shots of this ape and her baby in their environment presented a number of such opportunities.
And you know me, I hate "cute" so I would not want to go that direction. :-)
