Star Trails Over Marsh Creek Lake

Uploaded: April 04, 2011

Description

This was my first attempt at star trail photography, something I've always wanted to try but never found the time. This is the result of 103 / 30 second stacked exposures. I would have preferred longer exposures to keep the trails smoother and longer but the light pollution was much worse than I anticipated at this location limiting my options. Cloud cover was also an issue making it very difficult to locate the North Star (Polaris). I was pleasantly surprised at the number of stars that appeared on the exposures as I was only able to see a few stars with the naked eye.
