I love the lighting I had when I shot these. A bright overcast, which in combination with photographing thses blooms in a shadowy bush gave this image an almost studio lighted feel.

Hi Andrea,

What a beautiful floral image.
Your comp., exposure and focus
are excellent.

Why not put this one on the 60D
gallery?

I've commented on a number of your images; I would like to have feedback on any of my images to see what you
think.

Give us your best shot!
Lou

Tomas,
Thank you so much!! I never left tho!! I just tend to get behind (with my classes)& then so wrapped up in things trying to catch up.. Sometimes just takes someone snapping their fingers in front of me to get me to refocus my attention.. Actually I brought this photo in to the Gallery to share at Lou's kind suggestion.. So thanks for the participation encouragement again Lou!! I have read & re read the group photo of the week message, posted on the club/friends of 60D page .. But Im still unclear what the goal, or what we as a group are doing with it?? The message I saw refering to this, mentioned an email with further details, but I dont think I got that email.. Is there a group activity that I'm missing or something?? If anyone could/ or might want to fill me in, it would be most appreciated!!! ; )

Look Andrea!
Lou is the real soul of the club. He es permanently encouraging and supporting our club activity: Photography. He had the good idea, for promoting photography and gallery sharing, to create our Photo of the Week event. Each member had to upload his better photo of the week. The club has taken its own flight, with the friendly photo sharing, and with the comments, suggestions, tips, etc. from each member to other, and that idea I think we could re-launch in the future.
If you have any idea for our better club activity and freindship, it will absolutelly welcome. #9365208

Andrea & Tomas

The purpose of the 60D club is to
support and to encourage each other
in our photographic work.

The idea of the Photo of the Week was that each member would upload a favorite image on to the gallery on a weekly basis. Then, other members including you would make a comment on each member's image. Sounds simple enough. However, we aren't getting a co-ordinated effort from the club members
to make this a possibility.

On giving comments: I appreciated
your great comment on my yellow tulips
image. However, I've not seen you give comments to other members' images. Correct me if I'm wrong. Again, members tend not make comments on other members' images.

The issue is what can we do to change
this state of indifference in our 60D
Club? Do you have any suggestions?

Lou

Hi Tomas & Lou,
Well, I cant speak for others but here is where I stand on these things.. I am a newer photographer, and I am still somewhat shy about commenting on other peoples work.. Being a student, I often tend to assume others have been in this a lot longer than I and dont need or want feedback from little old me.. This is something Im working on, and I recognize it as largely a confidance issue.. Also I am a full time photography student, and also juggle 3 kids age (17, 12 & 2) a husband and a chronic illness.. My illness is incredibley unpredictable.. The last couple of weeks, for example I have been very sick, and held up in bed because of it.. So then the few times I was able to get out I had a lot of catching up to do with homework, housework, and family life.. So while I found a few minutes to comment on your tulip picture Lou, there where others I wanted to write about, but told myself Id have to get back to it when my time allowed.. So I guess my request would be to consider doing something like the photo contest with in the group every other week or something rather than weekly.. Who knows what the others time allows?? And if you find your hopes still set on a weekly thing or more member to member feedback then perhaps it might be a good idea to restart the group under these guidlines, so members can better gage if the group is something they have the time to commit to..
Im on my way to catch a flight! I have a Dart Frog & Reptile Photo Workshop With My Better Photo Teacher, Jim Zuckerman, in St. Louis this weekend!!
Take Care, & I will check in with you all early next week!
Thanks!

Hi Sandi,

Yikes!,I can understand why you would
feel overwhelmed with all of your
responsibilities as well as your illness. Thanks for sharing many of
the stressors you cope with on a daily
basis.Consequently, please go at your
own pace when dealing with the 60D club.

About your confidence in sharing,
please learn to trust your own opinion.
Just as you did with my yellow tulip
image,share your ideas on composition
and exposure as well as the impact the
image has on you.

I liked your suggestion of holding a
60D contest every other week.

Have fun on your photo trip,
Lou #9379733

Andrea and Lou:
I sent a message for both. Thanks for your support!
Andrea, I hope you are better. For me it's a impossible dream to be a full time photographer. You are absolutelly lucky on this.. ... and a workshop with Jim Zuckerman... Uuuaaauu. Here, I can't do that! Enjoy it! #9380134

To Tomas & Lou- Are you guys still doing the 60d photogroup, I wonder? So amazing to come back & reread this all now! I had no way of knowing back in 2011, but that illness I’d mentioned, had only just begun. And the worst was still to come. And eventually (by mid 2012) resulted in an acquired brain injury, which robbed me of memories like these & much of my education with photoshop etc. Now, in Dec of 2019, I am several years into my recovery & finally it’s feesable to think I can successfully return to my photography here on BetterPhoto. Many years later, life has moved along! So I’m really touched when I reread the comments & encouragement here! So if nothing else please accept my ongoing gratitude for such wonderful & encouraging support! My minds telling me there may be other ways to look you both up & see if you are still active on Better Photo. And Lou, today I would say, I have found the “quiet indifference” you spoke of in this thread to be some strange manifestation of the social media revolution. I have certainly encountered it in the work I currently do, as well... I hope life has been good for both you kind gentlemen, & you’ve kept your cameras close! Myself, I’m currently in process of trying to reactivate my original betterphoto gallery. I did inquire, received a link, which I followed & paid to reinstate that betterphoto portfolio, was told to allow 2 business days for reinstating after payment- but for whatever reason it’s not back up yet. I’m trying to contact better photo, but as of today, with Christmas/Holiday shuffle, it’s been more challenging finding the time! But I will pursue this, till it’s back! And am just hoping some of my old betterphoto friends, may still be active here! Best to all!! #11787620
