Puzzlement: Dillworth Plaza

Uploaded: January 04, 2011

Description

While I was waiting to meet my Arizona brother at City Hall in Philadelphia in September, this man was "doing something" -- though I could not work out what!
----
Standing in Dillworth Plaza, his back is to 15th Street, where a truck and pedestrian pass by. He is looking toward the Eastern facade of City Hall, as he appears to be sketching. But he has nothing in his hands but the big book. Late September 2010.

---------------
Not much time for commenting in the next couple of weeks--preparing the house for staging (for sale). Lots to do!

I'm curious too, Michelle, and the stance you caught is certainly compelling. He almost looks posed :)
Good luck on the house -- I know it's a lot of work, not to mention the worry. #9141893

I know all about staging, my home has been staged for 2 1/2 months now. hard when you have a messy husband and dog. LOL Good luck on the next stage of your life. You can always come on down to Arkansas where the living is simple and taxes are way low. Also your housing dollar could buy you lots of house for your dollar. By the way your picture is very interesting. Gets the mind working just what the man is doing????? #9144467

Great street candid, Michelle! The expression on his face says it all - although what that is leaves a lot to the imagination!
Good Luck with the house. I have no idea what's involved in staging but assume your house needs to be on its best behavior at all times! Not easy to do. So don't worry about commenting... #9144866

What this man is doing is definitely a Puzzlement! Judging by the size of the book and the number of pages (not many), I have come up with some theories:
1. He is an actor memorizing his lines for a new play or movie.
2. He is a singer practising the words and notes to a song.
3. He is a waiter learning to rhyme off the "Daily Specials".
4. He is a student studying for an exam. (Condensed notes.)
The reason why the book is so big is because his eyesight is poor! LOL!
Whatever it is he is doing, you captured him at the perfect moment! A very interesting and thought provoking shot, Michelle! Wonderful lighting and clarity! Excellent work! :) #9207573
