Exposure

This photo was taken from the beach near Battle Rock (Southern Oregon Coast). Sand washed away and exposed the skeletal remains from the wreck of the Cottoneva, which can be seen in the foreground. While the sky behind the rusting metal was alive with dancing sunbeams! Battle Rock is silhouetted on the right side of the photo.
The Cottoneva, a 190 foot steam schooner, ran aground on February 10, 1937 during a storm. It had been in port loading lumber. The propeller from the Cottoneva is on display at Battle Rock Park.
