I have greatly enjoyed looking through your gallery, Sky! You have some wonderful portraits including this one above, and you have plenty of the kind of scenic shots I love. I live in New Mexico and get to travel the state a lot and into Colorado and the panhandle of Texas as well. There's nothing like the peace found in those wide open spaces! Fine work! #1394919

Thanks Thomas! I live in the very SW corner of KS, just a few miles from the CO and OK borders. We travel the panhandle of TX a lot and in good years we lease some country in NM to run cattle so we get to travel to the Northeast part of NM to check on our cattle. I love NM--it truly is the "land of enchantment"! You are absolutely right about the peace found in the wide open spaces--there's nothing like it. Thanks for taking the time to look at my gallery--I really appreciate your compliments!! Maybe we'll actually get the chance to meet in person one of these days. It sounds like we travel in the same circles a lot! Do you ever go to the WRCA rodeo in Amarillo? #9545878

Sky: I come to Amarillo twice a year to work at the Affiliated Amarillo Food Show. The next show is August 11th. While I'm there I have my camera and have gone out to Palo Duro Canyon before. May do it again this time. Sometimes I try some night photography in downtown Amarillo. I often stop on the way home to Las Cruces and take images if the light is too nice to pass up! I have in year's past traveled to places like Springfield, Walsh, and Holly, CO, but haven't in the longest of times. I just love New Mexico and that northeastern part with those grasslands and plateaus may be my favorite terrain! I have, funny as it sounds, never been to a rodeo! LOL! But I saw one on TV! Does that count? And I'm a fan of Jewel's! LOL! My non-cowboy ways are probably due to my New England upbringing where rodeos, though very present, took place with less fanfare than out west. But I do love both places, both the rural lifestyles of Maine and the southwest! I'm pretty much a New Mexican now. Hope to see more of your upcoming work! #9545921

Wow, it really is a small world! I grew up in Kim, CO (about 50 miles West of Springfield). The WRCA rodeo is really worth the trip. It's probably too late to get tickets this year, but you should try to make it next year if you have a chance. It's a ranch rodeo with actual working cowboys as competitors, and events like wild cow milking. The events are based on things that would be encountered on the ranch. It's lots of fun to watch. I used to try to take pictures but got so caught up watching that I eventually quit bringing my camera. If you are ever in this part of the country, stop by and see us!! #9546028

Thanks, Sky, for the invite! I bet one could get some great action images at that rodeo, and some great stills of all the people! I'm not great at portraits yet, but I might just work on that! Thanks again! Take care and have fun keeping on with taking those images! #9546199
