a very dramatic statement Peter. Would be interested in the story behind this statue. And congratulations on the EP.Would be remiss however, if I didn't point out some areas of concern regarding the photographic aspects of the shot. The most obvious is the tilt of all the trees leaning to the right. With the image straightened, his plight would be even more dramatic.
Also opening in raw and reducing the blown highlights using the recovery tool would help and a slight reduction in highlights would bring out more detail.
You certainly haven't lost your knack for finding story telling images. Well done. #1328059

come on pete we want the story. it is a very interesting statue. I think you have capture it very nicely. tilt or no tilt it looks like he is going up hill with all thoses chains. now I agree the hightlights could be worked on because you have lost come details on him. this is a shot that would be very cool done on a cloudy day to give it more of a story. or b/w and leaving the chains in color. #9046264Michael Kelly November 17, 2010
A very interesting find Peter. I think Dale has given you great advice and I have no more to add.Just a question: Are the chains rusted or were than made deliberately in this color. The color does make for a nice contrast against the statue. #9046727

Look at the art guys, look at the freakin' art! Never mind the tilted trees, never mind the blown high lights. Look at the freakin' art!Peter W. Marks November 18, 2010
I forgot to answer your question Mike. Here's a 'straightened version' and yes Rita, I liked the struggling uphill version too.

LOL! Thank God for you Peter! Did not realize I had become so darn pompous! What a twit. I'm so glad you gave me the OK to insul.... I mean, critique you in my own words instead of trying to be so sensitive to your feelings. From now on it's just plain old Dale, the country boy. Whew! This feels good! :o) #9048580Teresa H. Very interesting sculpture. I think the chains color is very cool.Your edits really brought out the texture in the man and the color in the chains. #9048674

Oh I love this image, Peter!Aimee C. Eisaman November 20, 2010
The first thing that caught my eye in this photo was the colors and then I was drawn into what the story could be with this statue. A great find on your part and I like all the texture and sharpness in it. Works well that way for me. :~) #9052904Sign up for an interactive online photography course to get critiques on your photos.
