Whim Of The Winds

Uploaded: October 25, 2010

Description

Small sailboats were swirling at the whim of the winds at Mystic Seaport, CT, and I wanted one to line up through the opening of this old building. Finally one drifted by and I came running from the flower garden nearby to catch it.

Very cool!!! Very well timed...of course!!! Well composed with excellent color and clarity...well worth the "running." (Monnie and I are thinking about a trip next summer/fall that would include Mystic...hope you post more photos from there.)Great work. #8994497

Well that's perfect. The weathered building and kegs are of great interest by themselves. And the deep blue of water and sky. The boat, that's that little capper that is to be loved. #8994715

Monnie Ryan October 25, 2010

Could you have done it more perfectly? I doubt it! Also doubt I'd have had the patience to wait it out, but that's another story, I guess. Fantastic capture! #8994727

Thanks folks. Mystic would be a good place for a special BP gathering. Jack, as always, there are many galleries of this place on my ParksPhotos.com site. Monnie, you would have had no problem waiting ~ notice I came running from the flower garden. #8994768

Good for you Marty. I wonder what kind of brew they cook in that giant kettle that is turned upside down just to the left of the shack. This is a stunning photo my friend. You have accomplished what you set out to do. Great depth and color saturation superb too.

Thought I would show that I can get different photographs sometimes. Breaks the monotony #8995319

Old weathered wood, iron banded casks and not to forget a figurehead mounted on the front of the building (!) - a real salty flavor here at #34, Marty! Your timing was impeccable - the crisp white of the sails perfectly framed by the open door makes an avowed landlubber like me yearn to hear wind thru canvas sails! :) Nah...won't happen, at least in this lifetime! :) Superb capture! #8995618
