Rain Lily Backlit

Uploaded: October 13, 2010

Description

f/8.0, 1/500 sec, ISO 100, AWB, tripod, remote release. Manual setting: Chose f/8 to try to get whole flower in focus but not the background. Spot metering on the very center; with the white & pale green, dropped the time half a stop to overexpose slightly. The petals are nice and bright, but the backlighting makes the bright yellow stamens too dark, plus the shadow of the backlit petal on the lower petals is distracting and the shadows within the petals are harsh.

Exif: F Number: 8, Exposure Bias Value: 0.00, ExposureTime: 1/500 seconds, Flash: did not fire, compulsory flash mode, ISO: 100, White balance: Auto white balance, FocalLength: 200.00 mm, Model: Canon EOS 40D
