That' s mine

Your capture is awesome. In my very humble opinion, the only thing it needs is better composition, a topic which I struggle with constantly.

There are several ways to improve your composition. One is capturing you subject off center and following the Rule of Thirds. There's a Rule of Thirds that can be set up in CS3, so certainly your more advanced version would have it. It's a sqiggly symbol which looks like an ocean animal. But, it's called a Custom Shape Tool and is in your tool palette. It work with the Shape box across the top of CS3. Dial up the shape that looks like a TicTacToe board and click on it. That shape will activate the tool. Place the tool over any image and pull out down so it is covering the image. The subject should be where the lines ajoin on the sides --not in the middle--of the image.

If you subject is in the middle, it may not be the best place. Of course, there are many more ways to create composition as well. This is just one of them.

I took a class from Brenda Tharp and her class generally covers what is in her books. For example:
Creative Nature & Outdoor Photography, Revised Edition [Paperback] is available at and possibly other book stores. But, her class goes beyond the book with hints of how to use graduated reduced density filters, the kind that fit in front of the lens, which I had but needed guidance for settings and manipulation. She offered needed advice. Her critiques are amazingly helpful. I'd bought the book first and then went from there. #1358075
