Delicate Balance

Balance Rock, Arches National Park, Utah
In this photo, in addition to the Balanced Rock and its anchor rocks, you can see some of the Windows section of Arches, and the LaSal Mountains. The rock is also a tempting playground for all living creatures. Can you see the crow on top of the Balance Rock? A close crop of the human players is in Comments.

Rock "climbers" or crawlers. #1299166frank w. degenhardt August 17, 2010
Marty- LOL, just as long as you can get to the top. This is exactly what I would be doing if there. The balancing rock picture I have seen before, but each time it holds that beauty for me. I am a big fan of the what I call earth tone colors of the rocks, the formations a one of a kind, love the lines. Gorgeous work done here my friend.Julianne Bradford August 17, 2010
Wow! Amazing place and terrific pov Marty. Thanks for including the 2nd cool hat shot, it really give a sense of the size of it all. #8843154Ron McEwan August 17, 2010
Well my friend you got out and did more hiking than I did. Had to, to get this beautiful shot. So well composed Marty. You got so much in this one, the mountains, the windows, I was just asked a while ago at lunch which was the prettiest place we have traveled. Utah holds its own for top billing so far. #8843461Monnie Ryan August 17, 2010
From this angle, it sort of resembles one of those old Viking ships, Marty! A fabulous capture -- I can't imagine trying to climb around on that formation, especially if the temperature was much higher than 60! #8843579Jack Ryan August 17, 2010
Very impressive...both the balancing rock and your image. Excellent comp and the lighting, color and clarity are all outstanding as well. A real beauty, Marty. #8843647Kitty R. Rodehorst-Hanna August 17, 2010

Love your POV and composition here, Marty! You captured many of the great rock formations all in one shot! I did a little rock climbing when I was a lot younger but now I would be that crawler..LOL..Both images are excellent and beautifully done!! #8844748Randy D. Dinkins August 18, 2010

Thanks everyone. #8848275Val Feldman August 20, 2010
Outstanding dof, color, textures and clarity on this one, Marty. You can see for miles and miles (I'm humming that little ditty looking at this! :) Whenever I see photos of this phenomenal area, I'm always happily incredulous at the intricate carvings Ma Nature with the help of her "helpers" - the elements and eons of time - can produce....I'm so glad I had the opportunity to live my vacation of a lifetime vicariously thru yours! (I'll get there one of these days!) Thanks, Marty! :) #8850257Dianna Murphy August 24, 2010
That's amazing. Mother nature at her best. #8858751Marcel J. Fernandez September 01, 2010
