I had to double check my data in Adobe Bridge before I posted too...
I'm not 100% sure as to why it's an extremely narrow DOF, and because it was such a pretty web, I deliberately chose f13, ISO 400 and anSB900 speedlight to get as much as possible in focus, if not sharp.
Three things I think contribute to the narrow DOF, the full frame sensor of my D3x, the distance of the subject, (which was 50 cm) and the fact it was pretty breezy, and I'd enabled the 51 point AF and 3D tracking to help lock on the web. Many times the fine structures eluded the tracking. Parts of the web stayed relatively sharp and the breeze blew them in and out of focus.
