Description

A replica of the one room house where Nova Scotia folk artist Maud Lewis lived with her husband- the house was 4.1x3.8 meters-12x13 feet.. She was born with birth defects which led to severe rheumatoid arthritis and lived most of her life in poverty. A lady from New York was visiting the area and took a liking to Maud's paintings and encouraged her to sell some of her paintings , which she sold for between 2- 10 dollars. She died in 1970 at the age of 67. The original house and painting are on display in the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia. One of her paintings sold recently for $ 350,000.

Such a sweet and welcoming looking little house, Paddy and your story of the woman who lived in it and followed her passion for her artwork despite her physical limitations and more than likely, much pain, is heartwarming.
