The Visual Journey
Uploaded: August 18, 2005 14:58:11
I hiked into Arizona's Vermillion Cliffs wilderness one February night to observe the worlds finest sandstone at the first light of dawn. As the sun arose the compositions were limitless and the colors magical. What I never could have forseen was the clouds. The amazing clouds! High Cirrus, wind sheared and naturally striated to match the stone. I could hardly believe my eyes! A palette painted by god captured forever. I used a Canon 17-40L lens, polarizer and ND grad and exposed Fuji Velvia to render this image of the fleeting moment.

A wonderful shot Marc.To get those clouds as well is incredible.I look at clouds and realy have never seen any so nicely matched to your rock formations. In fact I cannot recollect a similar cloud arrangement over my sky.Well worth the hike...Great shot. #1731473Marc E. Adamus August 18, 2005 0
Thanks all for comments. Joe, I haven't seen similar clouds either. The polarizer and grad really brought out the contrast. #1731512
