Peter, Ellen, Mellanie, Diane, Evy and Donna,Peter,
I really appreciate your comments on this photo. Your words are the most precious prize I would ever have expected to receive.
Dandelions represent many things to all of us. They were part of our childhood; the toy that was always there, the dreams that we shared with the wind, the life that we helped to be born. Then as the years passed, we grew up and like all our toys, they were left behind; we forgot they existed; we didn't look at them anymore, but they were always there.
I wanted to bring them back in this photograph and give them the place they deserve in our hearts because although we have grown and we don't play with them now, we should always remember that hope and dreams never die.

Congratulations, Cesar on your well-deserved win. You've taken a common weed and turned it into a very beautiful work of art. Great job. #862202Peter K. Burian October 22, 2004 0
Cesar: You certainly achieved your goal. We all are tempted to find the most colorful flower (rose, etc.) to photograph. After a while, we see too many rose, etc. photos.
It's great to see a photographer go beyond the norm, to photograph less obviously striking subject matter and do such a great job in setup and composition.
A black background is not always ideal in nature photography, but it's perfect here, because this is a portrait of the species.
As Kathleen says, ... You've taken a common weed and turned it into a very beautiful work of art....
