Description

Wild horses on North Ocean Beach, Assateague Island, MD.

After spending much of the day searching the island for a glimpse of these beauties, we were hot, tired and about ready to leave when we saw a few horses heading for the beach. I took chase, not knowing how long or even if they'd stop once they got down to the water; little did I know that they would stand at the water's edge for the next 25 minutes, allowing me to take about 300 photos! Needless to say, I left the island sunburned and bug-bitten but well-rewarded for my efforts!

Amy- My head must have been somewhere other than on my sholders to have missed this stunning beauty. Anything with a horse in it is always a winner to me and this has to be one of the most beautiful horse pictures I have ever seen. The brightness and clarity are spectacular. The beach scene is heavenly, the colors of the horses and the way they are posed is gorgeous. Love the intrecate details. A must have for my favorites.

I was on Chincotegue Island as a kid. The horse flies were HORRIBLE. I cried and wouldn't go outside. If you've never been biten by a horse fly ....they draw bloood!! Amy, whenever I look at your photo I will be reminded of my attempt & failure to photograph these ponies.
