~Lotus~

These flowers are just so grand to me - huge pink flowerheads growing on such long stalks - everything about them seems over-the-top.. This particular one was found at Zilker Botanical Gardens in Austin, TX, along with about 100 others! It was growing in full sun and stood heads above the others. Really seemed to stretch out as far as it could to soak up as much of that radiant, glorious light as possible...

The first time I saw some of these were in ponds (tanks for you Texans) out in the middle of the Wichita mountains in OK. You captured this one beautifully Valarie.

We rode the mules last spring over on the north side. Going down would be alright but going back up would put me out of the race for sure. #7941940

Over the weekend I saw a photo book with several shots of these, and I said (quietly to myself), "I've seen much better photos at BetterPhotos." This one should be on the cover, Valarie. What a beautiful diagonal composition, petal to petal-corner to corner. Love the black bg and faded green compliment, and especially the center of the flower focusing on the light.
