I think the reason why the color is so good here is the trees are right up against the spring branch and have had the luxury of excess water and cool temps. I can imagine myself at 80 talking to the great grandkids. "Well back in 2008, I took this picture in the freezing cold where I had to walk barefoot up hill both ways....". No! Story sounds great so far. Be sure and tell them it was a 3 mile walk to the car, too. OH, and that you had to pass by the same place that Big Foot had just been sighted, saw him but your camera battery was dead! HA!

Wow am I behind. Sorry to have missed so many kind comments. I have a tendency to miss comments on past entries. Maybe I should check the photo numbers in email before doing a mass delete. I've been doing prep work on a small hayfeild I'm having converted to a native glade as part of a 10 year prairie rehab project with the Missouri Conservation Department Laura. It's cool I get to pick the native flowers and grasses used, but the spraying to kill the fescue and non-native species is a bit of work. Another plus is that's one pretty large area I won';t fill tempted to put in any new gardens. For some reason I have no restraint, and should have someone take away my tiller. I wonder if they have addiction support groups for gardening? "Hi my name is Tommy and I'm a gardening addict". #8870026

Yes of course they have a group for people like you. It's called...Oh wait. It's an Anonymous support group. They made me swear not to say it out loud when I was at my first meeting!!! You will receive an invitation in the mail shortly. You DO have a P.O. Box don't you??? HA!

Thanks so much Laura and Shirley. The remedy worked Laura. Two weeks of munching and the Japanese beetles were nowhere to be found. I hope I never see them again. The rehab project will make life easier on animals like quail and rabbits, which have a hard time evading coyotes and foxes in the thick fescue that is in most farm feilds anymore.This year it didn't look as good as it should have Shirley. We had a really weird super warm Spring, and all the trees that were supposed to bloom staggered, bloomed at exactly the same time. I've never had allergies so bad. I was part of a garden tour early this Summer. I wound up cheating and used a weedeater and mulch to hide the fact I was so far behind keeping everything tidy.
