It's always entertaining watching the daily pelican-feeding...on the waterfront at The Entrance, NSW, Australia...when the fish are flying! Taken 1/800 sec @ f4.5...

What a great capture, Carolyn! #63188Leigh A. Norrie October 01, 2003
What a great start to the month! Awseome shot! Love it. Would've been EVEN better with a slight crop of the crowd on the right. Just my opinion, but stll a fabulous shot! #217570Ronald Balthazor October 01, 2003
Great image and wonderful title, Carolyn. I think the crowd helps define the title. Just how many people will pay to see singing pelicans anyway? #217576Joy Brown October 01, 2003
Awesome capture! #217629Gabriela Cunha October 01, 2003
wow! would have loved to hear it!Lori Ditlefsen October 01, 2003
Carolyn, I love the title and the shot very much. I might have done a blur on the background just to get rid of the audience. Other than that it's a great shot. #217865Carolyn J. Connolly October 01, 2003
Thanks very much for your comments about my photo 'The Pelican Choir'! It is a fun photo, and I thought that a choir usually has someone to sing to, so that's why I left the audience in at the right-hand side and background...My photo being the first one on this month was a fluke, as living in Australia we're in a totally different time zone and hadn't realized that the new BetterPhoto month was about to officially tick over! We were already into October by quite some hours at that point!
If any of you has the chance to come to Australia, you must try to visit The Entrance, on the Central Coast of the state of New South Wales! The pelican feeding is held EVERY afternoon of the year at 3.30, and is an experience not to be missed! The scenery in the area is superb too!
Thanks once again for all your feedback and opinions... #218293

I Wouldnt Change A Thing In This Image Carolyn Nice Shot!! #218404Lori Ditlefsen October 01, 2003
Now that you mentioned the idea of the audience, it makes more sense to leave them in! I must have a duh moment! By the way Carolyn, my husband and I are taking our first retirement trip to Australia and New Zealand! Can't wait to get there! I've wanted to come all my life and will finally get the chance in a couple years. :) #218435Jean Papo October 03, 2003

I have just been having a look back at some of my prevous postings on BP, and noticed to my dismay that I had not answered some of the very kind comments I received for my shot 'The Pelican Choir'! Better late than never huh?! Thanks very much to Terry, Lori, Jean, Dottie and Gaby! I really appreciate your very kind observations and congratulations for this one...Lori, I'm sure you will really enjoy your trip Downunder - how are your plans coming along?! I hope you get the chance to visit the Lake Macquarie area in which we live - it is a very scenic part of New South Wales! How long will you be here in Oz? I'm sure you'll find that you need quite a length of time to be able to even scratch the surface of our beautiful BIG country!! #479773

Carolyn, Great shot and the title is right for this one. I also think the crown complements the picture.Carolyn J. Connolly December 15, 2004
Mal, thanks SO much for your complimentary comments on my image, 'The Pelican Choir' - and it's title! :) Also, I'm glad that you think that the crowd complements the shot... ;) I just took a look at your latest postings to your gallery - great work indeed! :) #974171Sara Jensen June 23, 2005
You have an incredible knack for naming pictures I think! I may have to contact you next time I have stuff up in a show and have to have names for them. I like the comedy you use. This is a great picture, I think pelicans are one of the comedians of the bird world. #1510922Hurk (Steve) Hurkett September 04, 2007
