Purple Peatie Portrait

Ok, so this is a stretch from photography, but really was/is a photograph that is hand painted in Photoshop. No use of filters, etc.I just thought I'd show a little of my whimsical side.

Thanks Kay and Mary. This was my first use of Photoshop as a paint pallet, and I had a BALL doing this. I hope others will appreciate it, but even if they don't, it was very satisfying for me to do. I'm anxious to see how others react to it. You two have both been very encouraging and welcoming to this newbie here. #3004289Jagadeesh Andrew Owens July 10, 2006 0
Great work! I was looking through the digital darkroom entries and this really stood out! #3007944Tricia L. Olson-Giles July 10, 2006 0
Thanks Sipho. That's high praise. :) #3008979Sam Britt July 15, 2006 0
Really nice cartoon effect. Did you do the painting with a mouse or use a graphics tablet?Sam #3030915

A mouse is like painting with a shoe. LOL! It's done with a graphics tablet. :)Tricia L. Olson-Giles July 15, 2006 0

Thanks Alice. It was fun, and the first time I attempted anything remotely like this. So thought, what the heck, let's show it to my toughest critiques here at Betterphoto.com. #3140479Larissa M. November 04, 2006 0

This was definitely a fun one. The technique was taught to me and inspired by a very talented artist friend of mine. #3984930Larissa M. February 25, 2007 0

Thanks Janet!!! I was excited to be a finalist. I never expected to get a second place!!! This feels awesome!! Especially since this is my first work of this type. I have to thank a dear dear friend and extremely talented artist, Xan Blackburn, for teaching me this technique, and mentoring me on this type of digital artwork. It's given me a whole new fun way to be creative beyond the photography itself. #4003981
