Selective edits made with a single RAW image, for the sky and foreground. The brighter skies that are in-between the two dinosaurs, comes from the light pollution of Mexicali, Mexico. The camera is facing to the SE. The reddish sky colors from the historic geomagnetic storm on May 10th/11th caused the reddish hues on the sand. This photo was taken in the early morning hours of May 11th. The reds in the sky were from a rare phenomena called a Stable Aurora Red, or SAR. Most people mistake the SAR for the aurora. Both are caused by geomagnetic storms. But unlike auroras which occur when charged particles from space hit the atmosphere causing it to glow, the SAR arcs are an indication of heat energy leaking into the upper atmosphere.
